Applications for the Froebel Intensive Summer Course 2025 are now open. Teaching is delivered in Edinburgh over 5 consecutive days in July. The 2025 course will be run between Friday 18/07/25 and Wednesday 23/07/25 (with no teaching session on Sunday 20/07/25).

We will acknowledge your application but your place on the course will only be confirmed when we receive full payment of the course fee.

Course fee: £895

The booking/payment deadline is Friday 20 June 2025. (Please ensure that you submit your application form AND confirm arrangements for paying the course fee by this date.)

Booking Terms

Courses will only go ahead if there are sufficient bookings.

Cancellation policy:  Our cancellation policy is designed to prevent courses being cancelled at short notice as a result of late withdrawals. We are unable to refund course fees where cancellations are made less than 6 weeks before the course starts. However, we are happy to accept substitute participants if you notify us at froebel@ed.ac.uk prior to the start of the course and if any additional fee due is paid. 

Personal data: We will use the personal data you provide in the online application form to process your application and communicate with you about this course. We retain core data about course participants for 3 years (in case you require us to provide evidence that you have attended or that you have successfully completed the assignments) and financial details for 7 years. 

If you have signed up for our mailing list, we will also contact you about future events you may be interested in. You may opt out of our mailing list at any time. 

We will not share your personal information with any third party.

We do not use profiling or automated decision-making processes.

Paying the course fee

By invoice

If your employer or local authority is providing full or partial payment of your course fee, please provide the information below, either in your online application form or by sending an email to froebel@ed.ac.uk:

• Name and postal address of organisation which will be making the payment
• The amount they will be paying (£895 if paying the full fee)
• Purchase order number
• Email address to which our invoice should be sent

Any copies of purchase orders should be sent to froebel@ed.ac.uk.

Credit card payments can be made by ePay.

You will be able to enter the relevant figure in the amount (£) section, depending on whether you are paying the full fee of £895 or part of the fee, if your employer or local authority is making a contribution.

Grants from the Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS)

In recent years, the Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) has awarded some Froebel course participants a part-time fee grant of up to £428 towards their course fees.

To be eligible for a grant from SAAS your gross income must be less than or equal to £25,000 per year AND you must meet the residence conditions (normally this means that you must have been resident in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man for 3 years prior to the course start date and resident in Scotland on the course start date).

To apply for a part-time fee grant for the Summer 2025 Froebel course, please request a SAAS Part Time Fee Grant Application Form 2024/25 (Froebel Summer 2025 Course) from SAAS by emailing: SAAS_PTFG@gov.scot. (Summer 2025 participants cannot use the online application process on the SAAS website and should ignore the instruction on page 6 of the form to upload the form to their online SAAS account.)

Please note that it can take a few weeks for SAAS to process grant applications and we therefore recommend that you apply as soon as possible.

If you have not received a decision from SAAS by Friday 20 June 2025 (the course booking/payment deadline), you can confirm your place on the course by paying the full fee. If you are subsequently awarded a SAAS grant, we will refund the amount of the grant.
