Our institutes

Our institutes each combine teaching, research and consultancy work and house our key national and international research centres, groups and networks.

We have a strong international reputation in the sociology of education, digital education, education and international development, and children and young people's learning and development.

We address all levels of education, and all forms of teaching, research, knowledge exchange and professional learning, to inform and enhance teacher education, educational policy and educational leadership mentoring and management.

Established in 2020, the Institute for Language Education (ILE) challenges ways of thinking about languages, literacies and interculturality by interpreting language education as critical transformative praxis that enables educators to bring about social change to educational institutions across the world.

Staff within the Institute for Sport, Physical Education and Health Sciences have backgrounds in physical education teaching, sport and leisure research, policy and management, physical activity and health and sport and exercise science.
