We are delighted to announce that Moray House School of Education and Sport will host the Digital Education and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hub, part of the Scottish Government-funded Centre for Teaching Excellence. The Centre for Teaching Excellence The Centre for Teaching Excellence (CfTE) is dedicated to research and innovation in teaching practices for all children and young people. Its goal is to position Scotland as a world leader in education. Launched in 2023, the CfTE encompasses various thematic hubs designed to enhance the competencies of both teachers and students, supporting effective learning in the 21st century. The Digital Education and AI hub The Digital Education and AI hub will establish and support a thriving professional learning community for Scottish teachers interested in developing research-informed practice in digital, data and AI literacy. Led by Professor Judy Robertson, Chair in Digital Learning, and Dr Serdar Abaci, Lecturer in Data and Digital Literacies, the hub will provide: • accessible, research-informed professional learning for teachers on digital, data and AI literacy topics • opportunities for teachers and academics to share, discuss and reflect on their knowledge and pedagogical practices • high-quality, interactive educational materials for teachers to use in their classes, helping them provide engaging learning experiences for their students. Professor Robertson said, "We are delighted to establish this hub to bring teachers together to share practice and research about digital learning and the impact of AI in schools." The hub aims to connect with all teachers across Scotland by employing an innovative pedagogical approach. This approach combines professional learning workshops and seminars with a variety of educational resources. The topics covered will include: • AI and creativity in English • supporting schools with AI policy • using AI responsibly in schools • promoting inclusive education through digital tools. Dr Abaci added, "We are delighted to establish this hub and be part of the CfTE to support all Scottish teachers to share practice and research about digital learning and AI in education in creative, ethical and responsible ways." The hub will benefit from the expertise of the Data Education in Schools team, which is internationally recognised and award-winning for delivering high-quality professional learning in data literacy and emerging technologies. Their research focuses on AI and its impact on young people's understanding, including a perspective on children's rights, and on professional development for teachers in data literacy.
