RN is a Cross-College Research Network that brings together researchers from a range of disciplines to make new contributions towards the theory and praxis of reflexivity. Reflexivity has emerged as a critical dimension of contemporary research practice to foster deeper awareness of researchers’ positionality, ethical responsibility, and analytical choices. With its roots in sociology through the work of Bourdieu, nowadays reflexivity is a researcher practice operationalised and implemented across various disciplines. Reflexivity enables scholars to interrogate their own assumptions, illuminate the relational dynamics of knowledge production and strengthen the transparency and trustworthiness or validity of their work. The rapid emergence of generative AI technologies has certainly amplified the need for heightened reflexivity, as it challenges researchers to critically evaluate how these tools shape methodological choices, interpretive processes and ethical accountability. Aims of the Reflexivity NetworkCreate a dedicated forum for sustained dialogue on reflexivity, connecting researchers across the University. This is with the aim of fostering radically interdisciplinary innovation.Make reflexivity a visible and shared priority in research practiceOffer seminars, workshops and mentoring opportunities to develop skills in reflexive research design, analysis and reportingIntegrate reflexivity, particularly in the context of generative AI, into PhD training on funding applications, scholarly publishing and engagement strategiesStimulate interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary collaborations that address ethical, epistemological and methodological implications of reflexivity in research design and practiceContribute to University-wide conversations on responsible AI use, aligning with Open Research and ethics priorities.
