Our research group brings together staff and students working in the area of philosophy of education.
Our work covers a range of areas within the field of philosophy of education, including theories of teaching and learning, moral education, theories of discipline, curriculum theory, virtue epistemology and education, and theories of inclusion and social justice. Our members have backgrounds in diverse traditions of philosophy, including Analytic, Continental and American Pragmatism.
The research group is situated within the School’s Teacher Education, Curriculum and Pedagogy Hub.

Study
Programmes our members teach on
A central concern of our Philosophy of Education Research Group (PERG) group is supporting students’ understanding of the theories underlying a range of approaches to educational research, as well as the connections between theory and practice. In the School of Education and Sport, we teach on a number of programmes, including:

PhD study
We supervise PhD students working in several areas of philosophy of education. We welcome applicants interested in pursuing topics in this diverse area. Seminar series
