A century later, the School partnered with the University of Edinburgh to introduce a joint Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree. The BEd replaced a three-year diploma for primary teachers in 1983.The institution further evolved in 1987 when it merged with Dunfermline College of Physical Education, Scotland's first training school for female physical education teachers.In 1998, Moray House became part of the University of Edinburgh as the Faculty of Education, and in 2019, it was officially renamed Moray House School of Education and Sport.Dynamically diverseMoray House is home to diverse research initiatives, facilitating a dynamic academic community committed to applying interdisciplinary social science research to education. The Institute for Education, Community and Society (IECS) hosts several research groups focused on areas such as Childhood and Youth Studies, Community Education, and the Philosophy of Education, among others.Established in 2010, the Institute for Education, Teaching and Leadership (IETL) works to celebrate diversity in 21st-century educational settings, challenging past perceptions through global trends that address the complexities of modern educational environments.
