Find out about the first week of your programme and Welcome Week.

Your induction

Your induction will take place Monday 18 August - Friday 22 August. You should plan to attend sessions 9am - 4pm during this week. 

Your induction will include welcome sessions, information sessions, and the first teaching sessions of your programme. Full in-person attendance is expected.

Details of all events and teaching sessions will be available on your programme LEARN page near the start of your induction. We will post a link to the LEARN page on 11 August.

PGDE Primary initial sessions

Below is some information about induction events that are taking place to welcome you to the School and the programme. Your full timetable, including teaching sessions, will be available on LEARN. 

PGDE Primary School Welcome Session: Monday 18 August: 09:00 - 09:30

This essential induction event for Moray House students includes a welcome from key senior staff in the School, ​​​​as well as an overview of campus resources to help you make the most of your time studying with us.

Programme welcome: Monday 18 August, 10:00 - 12:00

This event will include meeting the Programme Director and the wider teaching team, as well as a programme overview and information about managing your work and social learning events on the programme.

Programme-level activities: Monday 18 August, 13:00 - 16:00

Meet the Teachers' Trade Union: Monday 18 August: 09:00 - 13:00 (drop-in)

An opportunity to meet with a number of teacher trade unions and discuss the benefits of joining. A chance to ask questions, sign up and pick up some goodies!

Getting the Most out of your Student Experience: Tuesday 19 August: 09:00 - 09:45

Find out more about the support and advice services available to you as a new student, so that if you ever need support you know where to go and who to contact.

This event provides an opportunity to meet key support staff who will explain the academic support system and detail the pastoral and administrative care designed to help you throughout your studies.

Speakers include: Senior Tutor, Student Experience and Support Office (SESO), Wellbeing Service, Peer Support, Student Voice and Student Community.

School induction and the Welcome Week app

The standard University semester 1 opens with Welcome Week 8-12 September. You will already have started your programme and settled into your courses. However, you are very welcome to attend events taking place in Welcome Week that fit around the other commitments in your timetable. It may be that you are unable to attend some of these sessions live, however, recordings will be made available and published on the Student Hub after the event. 

It is recommended that you download the University Events App where you will find all Moray House and University-wide welcome events. 

MHSES School Community Fair

A chance for students to meet with students and staff involved in the School community and more importantly how you can get involved.
