PGR Support Team

The postgraduate research programmes (PGR) are supported by a dedicated Administrator, the PGR Director and Deputy Director.

Our Postgraduate Research support service team play a pivotal role in all aspects of your experience studying with us, ranging from student support and general guidance during the application process and offers for PGR programmes, support throughout your programme of study, including annual progression reviews, supervision and engagement monitoring and finally to thesis submission and award processes.

This team will guide you through your time at Edinburgh, from the moment you join us at Welcome Week, until your graduation day. Support continues after graduation, as you will always have a friendly face to greet you and helpful assistance when you need it as a member of our alumni community.

The main purpose of the PGR Team is to ensure your smooth progression through the programme. As such, they share the programme-specific email account which you are encouraged to use as this is monitored by staff members in the professional services team, so you are always provided with support, assistance and guidance when you need it, without delay.

Upon joining the University, all research students will normally be allocated two supervisors: a Principal Supervisor and a Second Supervisor or, in appropriate cases, two Co-Supervisors. The relationship with your supervisor is one of the most important parts of your PhD/MScR. You are both responsible for contributing constructively to this relationship through courtesy and mutual respect.

The Student Experience and Support Office (SESO) team are based in G.09, Charteris Land. They are a hub of information, advice and guidance for students, particularly regarding non-programme-specific queries. If you have a question about any aspect of your life as a student at Moray House, you can visit the office or contact the team.
