Reimagining research and teaching with GenAI: Publishing, practice and pedagogy

Chair: Dr. Florence Bonacina-Pugh, Joint Senior Lead of the LIL Hub.

Abstract

This talk draws on my experience in editing, academic publishing, practitioner research and innovative pedagogy with generative AI.

Building on recent work in the Annual Review of Applied Linguistics (Lee, Jeon, McKinley & Rose, 2025), I discuss how GenAI is reshaping English language teaching through a global Englishes lens, creating new opportunities and challenges for researchers and practitioners.

The session provides practical guidance for publishing and for integrating practitioner research with pedagogical innovation, supporting participants to engage critically and productively with GenAI in higher education.
