Professor Judy Robertson receives the 2026 Suffrage Science Award in Computing

We are excited to announce that Professor Judy Robertson has received a Suffrage Science Award in Computing, joining nine other women who are making significant contributions to science.

The Suffrage Science Awards honour pioneering women in science and Professor Robertson was recognised for her work in AI literacy in schools. Professor Robertson shared, "I’m honoured to receive the Suffrage Science award in computer science because it feels like I am joining a family of amazing women scientists. That’s nice because it can be lonely to be (literally) the only woman in the room, which used to happen in my earlier days in computer science. I love that the award is about looking after beautiful heirloom jewellery and that in a few years I will pass it on to another women computer scientist."

Professor Robertson discussed some next steps in her research and work for impactful Data Education in Schools, data science frameworks and supporting teachers’ AI literacy.  "We’ve just started a new hub (as part of the Centre for Teaching Excellence at Glasgow Uni) for teachers to help them with professional learning about digital learning and AI literacy."

Judy and the digital education team are looking forward to running exciting events for teachers and to hearing how they are using technology in their classrooms.
