Social Justice and Community Action programme key dates for your diary
- 7-9 January 2026 – January welcome (Week 0)
- Monday 12 January – Start of semester (Week 1 of teaching)
- Monday 30 March – Final week of teaching of semester 2
First course - Community Engagement: Co-Constructing Knowledge with Communities
All new students should make sure that they enrol onto ‘Community Engagement: Co-Constructing Knowledge with Communities’ as soon as possible. Please do this by getting in touch with your Student Advisor as soon as possible:
You will have access to the course site on Moodle from at least Wednesday 7 January, which is when the January welcome period begins (‘Week 0’). During this period, you may use this time to familiarise yourself with the course on Learn Ultra. The semester then formally starts with Week 1 of teaching on Monday 12 January.
Although we use a range of different learning technologies, the main virtual learning environment (VLE) we use for our courses is called ‘Learn Ultra.’ You will have access to the course on Learn Ultra from Wednesday 7 January, which is the week before teaching formally starts.
Although there are no formal activities, we urge you to use this time to familiarise yourself with the course. You should also familiarise yourself with the MSc Social Justice and Community Action ‘programme hub’ page on Learn Ultra. This space can be considered a ‘hub’, containing essential programme-level information, as well as essential and useful information for new online students. It is also where student community activities take place and it is a space where you can communicate with your student representatives. The Programme Director and Academic Cohort Lead use this space for programme-wide (as opposed to course-level) communications.
